Direct air capture

Think of direct air capture (DAC) as a giant air purifier that works on a global scale. These facilities act like massive air filters, pulling carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere, separating it from the air, and then securely storing the carbon deep underground or converting it into useful products.

The captured carbon can be put to work in several ways: companies can use it to make stronger concrete, produce renewable fuels, or even carbonate beverages. This flexibility makes DAC both a climate solution and a source of valuable materials.

DAC creates a new industrial sector that uses Canada's abundant clean energy and geological storage advantages, positioning Canada to capture significant market share in the rapidly growing carbon removal economy. This technology builds on Canada's existing manufacturing and energy infrastructure while creating new revenue streams from carbon-based products like sustainable fuels and enhanced concrete.
