Biomass carbon removal and storage (Biochar)

Company bio

Haliburton Forest Biochar started as a research and development project focused on adding value to biomass harvested from sustainable forest management operations and produced by hardwood sawmills in central Ontario. Over the course of many years and extensive experimentation, we have developed proprietary technologies for producing and refining biochar from sustainably harvested biomass.

Haliburton Forest Biochar is operated by Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve Ltd., a sustainable, multi-use private land stewardship company that owns and manages more than 250,000 acres of timberland in Ontario. The properties owned by Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve Ltd. were the first in Canada to be certified as sustainable by the Forest Stewardship Council – and we continue to manage our forests sustainably to this day.
